The quickest route from London. Eurostar tickets can be purchased from their website, all french trains can be purchased now from Trainline.
1. Board the Eurostar at London St Pancras, heading to Paris Gare du Nord.
2. Once in Paris, hop on the RER Line D (underground) and travel just two stops south to Paris Gare du Lyon. This leg takes roughly 5 minutes with departures every 5 minutes.
3. From Gare du Lyon, embark on a 1.5-hour high-speed train to Dijon. Upon reaching Dijon, you have two options:
a) Catch a brief 20-minute local train to the charming town of Beaune.
b) Alternatively, take a taxi, which should get you to your chosen hotel in under 30 minutes. For hotel options, see accommodation.
There are several routes via the major destinations of Paris, Geneva and Lyon to Beaune. Lyon is likely the most convenient.
a. By Train:
- Take the Rhônexpress tram from the airport to Lyon Part-Dieu train station.
- From Lyon Part-Dieu, take a TGV or TER (regional train) directly to Beaune or via a quick change in Dijon.
b. By Car:
- Take the A6 highway directly to Beaune (1.5hr).
a. By Train:
- Take the Orlyval light rail from the airport to the Antony station.
- Transfer to RER B and head towards Paris.
- Switch to RER D at Châtelet-Les Halles, heading towards Melun or Malesherbes.
- From Gare de Lyon, take the TGV to Dijon (1.5hr).
- From Dijon, continue to Beaune by regional train or taxi.
b. By Car:
- Take the A6 highway directly to Beaune (3hr).
a. By Train:
- From CDG, take the RER B train towards Paris.
- Transfer at Gare du Nord to RER D (direction Melun or Malesherbes).
- Get off at Gare de Lyon.
- From Gare de Lyon, take the TGV (high-speed train) to Dijon.
- From Dijon, take a regional train to Beaune or opt for a taxi.
b. By Car:
- Rent a car at CDG.
- Drive via the A6 highway directly to Beaune (approx. 3-4 hours).
If you choose to get 'Le Shuttle' from Folkestone to Calais (35 mins), Beaune is around a 5.5 hour drive from there.
Perhaps stop in the Champagne region halfway… both Reims and Epernay are beautiful towns and offer wine tours.
